Serious movies will still exist.

I've noticed the same effect with the Netflix-equivalent I use here in the UK. But I'm not sure it means that "serious" movies are in trouble. The way I see it, these are more often the movies that directors really want to make; if a Steven Spielberg needs to make a few Jurassic Parks in order to also make a Schindler's List, chances are he will.
