That's pretty much what I've been figuring on
Any intelligent beings we create are our children, whether or not we did it in vivo with our own chromosomes or in a computer lab. We should love AI children as we do real ones, and do our best to deserve that they’ll love us back, even as human children can love their parents even if they’re much smarter.
I think a useful step toward this is to put recognition of courtesy into voice interfaces as they become more common. Sure, you can insult a computer all you want right now and it won’t care— but people shouldn’t get in the habit of doing so in anticipation of the days when computers will have feelings to hurt. I’d start by putting delays into voice interfaces that get shorter if you speak calmly and courteously, and get longer if you start using harsh language.
